Endowment Fund
Remember your loved one with a lasting memorial to the Endowment Fund of Christ United Methodist Church.
Members and Friends of Christ United Methodist Church, Jacobus, have discovered that being part of a Christian Church is one of the most significant satisfactions in life. The support our church has received over the last 140 years bears witness to this. Nobody wants to think about the day when we can no longer support our church. But with your help, that day need not ever come. Established on September 17, 2000, The Endowment Fund has allowed us to continue to support the church we love for generations to come.
Donations to The Endowment Fund are invested with the Stewardship Foundation of the Central Pennsylvania Conference and managed by The Endowment Fund Committee. This committee is responsible for making annual recommendations to the church's Administrative Council regarding the use of the income from the Fund, which is to be used to fund special projects and initiate new ministry programs.
You are invited to prayerfully consider giving a gift that will keep giving.
Gifts to The Endowment Fund
Gifts to The Endowment Fund are classified as “designated” or “undesignated” and assigned to one of the following categories:
-
Mission Fund: For missions in and beyond the local church and community. Examples of these missions might include assistance to persons in need, support of missionaries, Advance Specials, second-mile giving projects beyond the church, seed money to encourage additional gifts to mission projects, and work camps
-
Building Fund: For purchase or construction of new church property, additions to or major modifications, repairs, and maintenance to existing church property
-
General Fund: For special needs and ministries as determined by the Administrative Council. Examples of these types of ministries might include extended ministries for which funds would not otherwise be available through the regular church budget, purchase of new equipment, scholarship assistance to church members to attend college, seminary, or educational conferences, etc.
How Can I Give to The Endowment Fund?
There are many ways to make a charitable gift, both during life and at death. As our tax laws change, new ideas continue to develop, including the following:
-
Outright Gifts: These include cash, stock, bonds, and collectibles
-
Wills or Trusts: Through your will by naming the church as a part of your estate. During their lifetime, some people give a tithe of their income. After death is a great opportunity to give a tithe of your estate.
-
Life Insurance: Through life insurance, you are able to give beyond your means. The church can be named beneficiary.
-
Retirement Funds: More and more people are naming their church as a contingent beneficiary of their retirement plans. If you and another family member dies before receiving all of the funds, the church would receive the remainder.
-
Charitable Gift Annuity: This is a gift through which you receive a guaranteed lifetime income. The rate of return is very attractive.
-
Real Estate: A gift of real estate may be made to the church while you continue to live there
